This is a modality that helps the brain adjust its interpretation of signals from the body to help break the cycle of chronic pain. It is a blend of mindfulness, somatics, and practice of new skills that helps the brain and body develop new patterns.

Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-based therapy focused on resolving the effects of trauma and chronic stress. It can be a helpful next step for those who have benefited from talk therapy, but continue to experience cycles of physiological distress or shut-down. SE supports people in learning how to attend to sensations in their body and understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, behavior, and body experience.

I am in the midst of the three year Somatic Experiencing Practitioner training program, receiving both live education and supervised practice in SE methods.
