Somatic Experiencing
Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-based therapy focused on resolving the effects of trauma and chronic stress. It can be a helpful next step for those who have benefited from talk therapy, but continue to experience cycles of physiological distress or shut-down. SE supports people in learning how to attend to sensations in their body and understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, behavior, and body experience.
I am in the midst of the three year Somatic Experiencing Practitioner training program, receiving both live education and supervised practice in SE methods.

Pain Reprocessing Therapy
This is a modality that helps the brain adjust its interpretation of signals from the body to help break the cycle of chronic pain. It is a blend of mindfulness, somatics, and practice of new skills that helps the brain and body develop new patterns. It is especially good for back pain and many other unexplained pain in the body.
